Favourite Quote: “Nobody escapes being wounded. We are all wounded people, whether physically, emotionally, mentally or spiritually. The main question is not, ‘How can we hide our wounds?’ so we don’t have to be embarrassed, but ‘How can we put our woundedness in the service of others?’ When our wounds cease to be a source of shame, and become a source of healing, we have become wounded healers.”

A Message From Deb:

Hello! I’m Deb and I’m glad that you are taking the time to get acquainted with me and my therapy approach. The decision to pursue counselling and find the right fit can feel big and maybe even a little bit overwhelming. It is important to keep in mind that a strong relationship is one that is built on trust and must feel comfortable. And you need to feel heard! I listen with my head and my heart and in our work together you can expect to be met with authenticity and sincerity. I like to keep it real!

You may have previously attended counselling, or this might be your first time and you are wondering what to expect. Just as each of you is unique, so are counselling sessions, but they will generally start with taking a little time to explore aspects of your well-being from a mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual lens. Your goals may already be clear, or they may need to be discovered. Either way, once we have established our focus, the work could look like finding solutions to a problem, changing a perspective, learning a new skill, or perhaps providing space to explore and heal. We learn differently and finding what works best for you is an important part of the process and one of the reasons I am trained in several different therapy approaches.

You may be battling depression or persistent low mood, held back with anxiety, struggling with burnout, stress or having difficulty coping with a life situation. Maybe you are unsure about where you are headed in your life and looking to explore this. Over the past 13 years that I have been providing mental health counselling support to individuals, I have journeyed down many paths, and celebrated in some victories. I have both witnessed in other’s and personally experienced the healing of wounds and I hold a deep compassion for individuals dealing with grief, loss and adjusting to major life transitions. I hope you will feel empowered to reach out so we can start a conversation to determine whether I can be helpful in your journey forward.
