A Message From Stephen:
I work with individuals, couples, and families who are navigating relationship challenges, addiction and recovery, family conflict, or significant life transitions and are looking for practical ways to move forward.
I am a Registered Social Worker with a Master of Social Work and over 30 years of clinical experience supporting individuals, couples, youth, and families through complex and challenging situations. My background includes work in community mental health, hospital, crisis, and intensive treatment settings, where I have supported individuals and families facing trauma, addiction, serious mental health concerns, and high-stress life circumstances. This breadth of experience allows me to bring a calm, steady approach to situations that may feel overwhelming or difficult to navigate.
Over the course of my career I have worked extensively with individuals and families facing complex situations, and I bring that depth of experience into every therapy conversation. My work focuses on helping people better understand patterns in relationships, emotions, and behaviour so that meaningful and lasting change becomes possible.
A significant part of my practice involves working with couples and families experiencing conflict, communication breakdown, or periods of transition, including parents navigating challenges with adolescents. I also support individuals navigating addiction and recovery, as well as family members impacted by a loved one’s substance use. Therapy can provide space to better understand these patterns, rebuild trust, and develop healthier ways of moving forward.
I also work with individuals navigating major life transitions, stress, and periods of feeling stuck or overwhelmed, including those exploring questions related to identity, relationships, and expectations. I have a particular interest in supporting men’s mental health, helping men explore challenges that can sometimes feel difficult to talk about openly.
My approach integrates evidence-based methods such as CBT, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, trauma-informed practice, and practical emotional regulation skills, while always adapting the work to the unique needs and goals of each client. I provide secure virtual therapy across Ontario for individuals, couples, and families navigating trauma, addiction, and relationship conflict.
If you’re considering therapy and wondering whether this might be the right fit, I welcome you to reach out and begin the conversation.
