A Message From Stephanie:

Hi there! I’m Steph! I have been a paramedic for 18 years in Middlesex-London and continue to work on a specialized team working with clients living with mental illness and their families. Prior to joining this team, I worked in Community Paramedicine and worked with individuals living with chronic illness and palliative patients. I also currently provide clinical mental health support to first responders living with PTSD alongside a psychologist. I knew I wanted to be a therapist from the age of 20 but knew in my heart I was not ready. I needed to get my feet wet and grow as an individual; I had to learn many valuable lessons in life before I could pursue my dream. I was finally ready, so I went back to school. I obtained my BSW and MSW all while working as a paramedic; I have to admit, this was tough! During my MSW year of school I successfully got pregnant and had a beautiful boy. My choice to take on motherhood solo became my reality. I am grateful for all my life lessons and experiences; it has made me the clinician I am today.

Outside of work I am quite passionate about home renovations and home decor. I love to turn the forgotten into something worth talking about! I started off owning a hammer and a set of screwdrivers with the inability to hang a picture by myself to owning a whole tool shed and trying just about anything. I have the scars to prove it! Ask me about my thumb scar; that’s a good story.

Having walked my own therapy journey throughout my life, I know that selecting a therapist can be overwhelming and scary. Being vulnerable can feel unnerving and the process of therapy can be one of the hardest things you will ever do. However, healing and becoming the best version of yourself is worth it! Through my own lived experiences, I have become quite passionate about working with individuals living with trauma, birth trauma, loss, attachment struggles, codependency and single parenting. If you are in a relationship; these personal issues can take a toll on your ability to develop the kind of relationship and bond that you want. I’m passionate about helping couples to work through these issues, heal, and find a way back to themselves, and to each other.

It is important to develop a healthy, trusting and safe relationship/partnership with your therapist. Having a great connection can really elicit motivation for change, as you feel safe enough to become vulnerable and really explore your inner angst. I want my clients to have autonomy; so I encourage you to make hard and important decisions for yourself. My role is simply to provide you safe guidance and support. I will teach you new tools to help you become successful in overcoming your life stressors and struggles. I want you to feel safe, validated, understood and heard. Remember, you did not become who you are overnight, so becoming the best version of yourself will also take time. Let’s start today.
